For the past year or so, the Chicago-based design firm 900 Blok has been making wooden tables shaped like states (as in, you pick a state you love, and the company will make you a wood table with a lacquered top of that state’s silhouette in the color of your choice). Recently, the company announced that it’s going international… er, it’s collaborating with Chicago-based Zachary A. Design to make tables in the shapes of three European countries: France, Italy, and Great Britain. The 18-inch-high tables look as if they are made of solid concrete, but they are actually made of fiberglass, resin, and sand. That means they only weigh around 25 pounds, and they’re good for indoors or out.
