1. In the master bedroom, Handman paired traditional end tables with a Christian Liaigre bed, which has a dark rift-sawn oak base and white-lacquered tops on the footboard and tall headboard. 2. Stainless steel andirons, original to the house, gleam in the brick-lined fireplace in the living room. The brickwork extends into a hearth structure in which firewood can be stored. 3. Windows wrap around the corner of the house, bathing the eating area of the kitchen in natural light. 4. In the dining area, set in a bay designed by Booth Hansen, Christian Liaigre chairs complement a table the owners already had. Overhead, an architectural element houses lighting and echoes the curve of the bay. 5. Hand-scraped hickory floors warm up the home’s contemporary architecture and serve as a neutral backdrop to the owners’ art collection. The stairs lead to the new bedroom suite; Booth Hansen created space for it by widening the garage and raising the roofline. 6. Clerestory windows bring light into the family room, which opens onto a patio.
