Some families share recipes, babysitting duties, bad eyesight. Slide-guitar hero Derek Trucks, whose band opens for Santana in April, shares a dizzying knack for music with his close-knit kin and extended clan. A primer on Trucks’s entwined pro-fessional and personal lives:

The Allman Brothers Band: Trucks wasn’t yet 21 in 1999, when he joined his drumming uncle Butch in this veteran Southern rock band, with whom he continues to jam today.

Eric Clapton: Trucks’s status as heir to the late Duane Allman-the Allman Brothers’ original lead guitarist, who recorded the classic “Layla” album with Clapton-was further enhanced when Trucks joined Clapton’s touring band in 2006.

Susan Tedeschi: Trucks married the blues singer and guitarist in 2000, has contributed to her last two albums, and performs with her in yet another band, Soul Stew Revival.

The Derek Trucks Band plays Apr 19 at 7. $40-$100. Allstate Arena, 6920 N Mannheim Rd, Rosemont. 312-559-1212.
