Unrestricted, killer views of the Magnificent Mile?Ample comfy seating? A gleaming, gold-tinged setting that will make you feel like a million bucks? Check, check, and check.
Of all the high-rise, booze-friendly terraces in town, the one at Z Bar (108 E. Superior St., River North) ranks among the swankiest. One shouldn’t expect anything less from a spot located in the Peninsula Hotel, especially since the massive space is the result of very careful planning. The drinks also match the luxurious setting, with many created with unusual ingredients from around the world.
Like many hotel bars, this one tends to draw a pretty mixed crowd. You’ll certainly be around tourists, but not everyone around you will necessarily have come straight from the Bean or Hamilton. Z Bar might not join the list of a local’s haunts, but it’s a beautiful space to visit, one where you’ll almost feel whisked away from home.
