Produced for HBO by Jordan Peele and J.J. Abrams, the supernatural sci-fi series, set in the 1950s, was shot at Cinespace, in Pilsen, and in west suburban Elburn, where a stunt car was flipped onto its side during a chase scene.

The next installment of the Emmy-winning FX series stars Chris Rock as the head of a black crime family clashing with the Kansas City Mafia in 1950. Interior scenes are being shot at Cinespace.

June 2020

Jordan Peele’s self-proclaimed “spiritual sequel” to the 1992 cult horror flick, set in the Cabrini-Green housing projects, returns to the now-gentrifying area. Director Nia DaCosta shot all over town, from Marina City and the Chicago Athletic Association Hotel to the surviving row houses of Cabrini-Green.

Utopia

Summer 2020

Gone Girl author Gillian Flynn scripted this dystopian thriller starring John Cusack. It’s an Amazon Studios remake of a BBC series. Shooting began in May at Cinespace, with subsequent filming in Austin, Pilsen, Little Italy, and west suburban Lisle.

The Trial of the Chicago 7

October 2020

Aaron Sorkin directs his screenplay about the conspiracy trial of the 1968 Democratic National Convention protest leaders. In October, the production arrived in Lincoln Park, the South Loop, and Grant Park to stage the conflict between police and demonstrators.
