Benny's Chop House

444 N. Wabash Ave.
Chicago, IL 60611

Critic’s Notes

With a broad range of grass-fed, dry-aged prime beef well in hand, this upmarket steak shrine aims to please and consistently does so. If you have always wanted to compare Japanese kobe beef ($100) with American wagyu ($40), Benny’s is the place to do it, especially since neither will disappoint; nor will the hefty veal chop garnished with crisp shoestring onions. Pork lovers will thrill to a shockingly rich side of maple-glazed bacon, cut superthick. Exciting seafood choices, from a primo crab cake appetizer to fat sea scallops with summer greens, nicely round out the menu. Fans of Turley Zinfandels are in luck, and so are banana cream pie junkies.
