Bite Cafe

1039 N. Western Ave.
Chicago, IL 60622

Critic’s Notes

The neighborhood adores this friendly, laid-back spot where there’s plenty to chomp on—even for vegetarians. A heaping bowl of smoky mussels with golden fries makes for a tasty shared starter, and housemade Parisian gnocchi with bright and minty pesto is a standout entrée. Slurp a hand-spun milk shake and then catch a concert at the adjoining Empty Bottle. Stop in for breakfast, too.

Dishes We Liked

Local tofu taco ($3); mussels and fries ($14); couscous with cherry tomatoes, squash, smoked eggplant, asparagus, and sambal ($14); omelet with peas, Yukon potatoes, onion, spinach, and provolone ($8)
