Fat Rice

2957 W. Diversey Ave.
Chicago, IL 60647

Critic’s Notes

This one-of-a-kind joint thrives on Macanese cuisine, an amalgamation of Portuguese, Cantonese, and Indian flavors that blends briny, sweet, and acidic notes to often-dazzling effect. Perfect for sharing: curry-drenched Portuguese chicken with chorizo and cabbage; pork belly with pineapple and tamarind; and Arroz Gordo, a hybrid paella of jasmine rice with raisins and a jaw-dropping array of meats and seafood. The cream cheese serradura may be the best play on cheesecake around.
