Moon Palace

216 W. Cermak Rd.
Chicago, IL 60616

Critic’s Notes

In Chinatown, where many restaurants look identical, this one shines with Shanghainese specialties, such as xiao long bao, pork-and-broth-filled dumplings that demand a whole ritual: Release steam, dress with ginger slivers and vinegar, eat. If the crispy fried whole tilapia is in season, you know what to do.

Dishes We Liked

Xiao long bao/soup dumplings ($7 for six), shrimp scrambled eggs ($16), pork shank ($18), steamed hong li (tilapia) ($16/small, $28/large)
