Critic’s Notes

Fine restaurants often struggle to both fulfill expectations and surprise palates. But this in-the-park hideaway offers beef and mushrooms to the cautious crowd and squid and watermelon to the up-for-anythings. And Bruce Sherman is a genius with seasonal produce, constantly making the familiar new again. Nonsugary desserts push the envelope on which ingredients can moonlight in sweet roles.
