Prairie Grass Cafe

601 Skokie Blvd.
Northbrook, IL 60062

Critic’s Notes

George Bumbaris and Sarah Stegner make it look so easy. Velvety old-school French pâté. Bold, juicy Greek sausage with lentils and goat cheese. Asian-style shrimp spring rolls. American skirt steak with grilled onions. They do it all, with honesty and integrity, in a comfy nature-themed dining room in Northbrook that the partners would rather keep good and affordable than flashy and overpriced.

Dishes We Liked

Homemade pâté ($7), Asian-style shrimp spring rolls ($10), homemade lamb sausage with lentils ($21), wild fluke with citrus-caper sauce and portobello mushrooms ($32), Mom’s Lemon Chiffon Pie ($8)
