With help from the developer, these spacious two-bedroom condos are filled with sunshine facing south over an extra-wide street, this broad former apartment building is designed so that each of its 12 two-bedroom condos gets plenty of sunshine. They are further illumined by the decision of the developer, Ken Marx, to open up some rooms by removing some interior walls. The rearrangement created more spacious hallways, living rooms, and a dining room.
Marx has also tucked storage space into every possible nook—which makes the modest bathrooms and kitchens work like much larger rooms—and enhanced the appeal of these low-priced condos by incorporating paneled bifold closet doors, double-layer baseboard trims, and glass subway tile into the design.
The building, dating to about the 1920s, is at 2570-80 West Lyndale Avenue. “Here, you’re six blocks in one direction to the center of Bucktown, and six blocks in the other to the center of Logan Square,” says Steve Breinling, the Rubloff agent representing the property with Michelle Browne. At presstime, five of the building’s units had already been sold. Prices on the seven remaining units start at $249,000 for a four-room, 900-square-foot condo. The five-room, 1,100-square-foot end units are priced at $284,000.
