CHI-TOWN JAZZ FESTIVAL

3/6–12 Guitarist John Moulder’s multivenue jazz fest has raised more than $140,000 for hunger relief in its seven years in Chicago, thanks to gracious performers and club owners who offer up space and talent for free. This year’s event features Bobby Broom, Frank Catalano, Reginald Robinson, Sarah Marie Young, and more. $10–$20 suggested donation. Various venues. chitownjazzfestival.org

LIVING BRIDGE

3/6 at 8:30 This nu-jazz quartet featuring Artie Black and Jeff Swanson takes its name from the root bridges formed by manipulating trees’ growth over time (Google it). That’s a metaphor, by the way, for the pathway they hope to weave between listener and performer. $10. Constellation, 3111 N. Western. constellation-chicago.com
