An open house is scheduled for Sunday, June 27th, at the Lake Forest home of Sharon Vaughn, the mother of the movie star Vince Vaughn. Priced at $2.395 million, the five-bedroom, six-bathroom house has about 6,000 square feet of living space and stands on a two-acre site that overlooks the Lake Forest Open Lands Association’s Mellody Farm Nature Preserve.
According to the Lake County Recorder of Deeds, Sharon Vaughn and her husband, Stephen Ferrone, a lawyer, paid $1.3 million for the property in 1998. That transaction may have only included the purchase of the land; the house appears to have been built later, and the recorder of deeds has no information on what construction would have cost. Sharon Vaughn declined to comment.
The home’s exterior is finished with Dryvit, a product that looks like concrete, and features several oversized pillars. The listing photos depict an interior with a two-story foyer that is a riot of double staircases, pillars, cutouts, and overlooks. The living room, dining room, and family room also appear to have more going on than they need to. (We have not linked to the online listing photos because that would divulge the couple’s street address.)
Sharon Vaughn and Ferrone listed the house for sale in June 2009—at the same price they are asking now—with Griffith, Grant & Lackie Realtors. Their agent, Scott Lackie, and his co-lister, Mary Dallas Cole, also declined to comment. Potential buyers should contact Griffith, Grant & Lackie for further details about the property and information about Sunday’s open house.
Recently, Sharon Vaughn, using the name Shea Vaughn, has been promoting her own fitness program, called Sheanetics, including this recent appearance on CBS2 Chicago. She also had a small role in her son’s 2008 movie Four Christmases.
One Lake Forest real-estate source, who asked not to be identified because of ongoing business with Griffith, Grant & Lackie, said that Sharon Vaughn and Ferrone have bought a condo in Chicago’s Palmolive Building, where Vince Vaughn and his wife, Kyla, own the penthouse. Because of problems with documents at the Cook County Recorder of Deeds, I have been unable to confirm that purchase nor discover how much Vince Vaughn paid for his penthouse.
