From August 22 through September 2, the shops along Michigan Avenue hold 12 days of live performances, shopping events, and exclusive sales for the annual Magnificent Mile Shopping Festival (themagnificentmile.com). With too many events to name, here are the must-sees:

Pioneer Court (401 N. Michigan Ave.): The fest kicks off with a 21+ event at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 22, when Jason Derulo performs and Mad Men's Christina Hendricks makes an appearance. To purchase tickets ($30) click here. Water Tower Place (835 N. Michigan Ave.): On Sunday, August 25, doors stay open late for an after-hours shopping soiree from 6 to 9 p.m. Along with music, hors d'oeuvres, and cocktails, all guests receive a coupon book valued at $650. Tickets ($20) can be purchased here. Trump International Hotel & Tower (401 N. Wabash Ave.): On Monday, August 26, the hotel partners with Swarovski for a “Sparkling Cocktail Hour” from 6 to 8 p.m. on the 16th floor. And oh, the sales: At VINCE (106 E. Oak St.), take $50 off your purchase of $350 or more; $100 off your purchase of $500 or more; or $300 off your purchase of $1200 or more from August 22 to September 2. Eddie Bauer (600 N. Michigan Ave.) gives you 50 percent off one full-priced item if you mention the shopping festival, through September 3. And GUESS (605 N. Michigan Ave.) takes 25 percent off regular-priced denim from August 27 to September 2.

 

Top Sales This Week

This week, find brands like Stylestalker, Bec & Bridge, and Paper Crown marked 50 to 75 percent off at contemporary women's boutique Edith Hart (1917 N. Damen Ave., 773-252-3350, edithhart.com).

The event runs from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 5p.m. on Sunday. Tickets cost $13 online or $15 at the door.
