What I’m Doing This Weekend

Up next in our series of weekend plans from notable, in-the-know locals—a.k.a. people we like: Rachel Wiseman, managing editor of The Point.

“On Friday night I’ll be working at The Point’s issue 10 release party at the Experimental Station, which is a stellar arts and community space in Woodlawn. There will be Lagunitas beer, cocktails, and music provided by my friend Quinten Rosborough.

“Early Saturday morning, I’ll stop by the 61st Street Farmers Market to stock up on power snacks before heading down to the South Loop for Printers Row Lit Fest. I spend most daylight hours proofreading articles inside, so it’ll be great to get out in the sun with the rest of Chicago’s literary world. After manning the table for a few hours, I’ll probably take a coffee-and-alfajor break at Cafecito around lunchtime. Later that night, I’ll make my way to Beauty Bar for Book Fort’s Printers Row after-party. There will be readings by local authors, and then it will gradually turn into a dance party.

“On Sunday I’ll be back at work at Printers Row, but I’ll try to duck out for a couple of hours to check out the comics and ’zines at CAKE. To cap it all off, I’m going with friends on Sunday evening to the Food Truck Social in Pilsen to eat my weight in empanadas and pomme frites before going home and collapsing on my couch.”
