Chicago’s medical marijuana dispensaries won’t open until later this year, but Chicago’s artists are readier than ever (haven’t they always been?) with custom pipes and other smoker’s paraphernalia (a goodie bag, a psychedelic poster) on view and for sale at Logan Square’s Tusk boutique this weekend.

Consider it a backlash against those high-tech e-vaporizers flooding the market and making every smoker look like a high-class robot, as the handmade ceramic and handblown glass pieces have so much charm they’ll just make you giddy.

Prices range from $40–$150 for some of this hipster gold, including one pipe styled as a nose. Another is a sleepy-eyed Garfield. Curated by the shop’s owner Mary Eleanor Wallace with art critic Kate Sierzputowski, the show includes pieces by Cody Hudson, Samantha Bittman, Betsy Odom, Ryan Travis Christian, and dozens more. Oh, and if anyone asks, it’s a water pipe, not a bong.
