Just checked out Classic Remix in the DePaul area (previously a pop-up shop in West Town called Grand Living) and loved it. It’s owned by Mary Garvey James of Geneva’s 610 Home and has a fabulous country-chic vibe that translates well to the big city. James is a pro at working with scale—the shop is filled with dramatic large pieces, including a massive black-and-white painting of a forest that greets you as soon as you walk through the door, as well as big consoles and gilded mirrors. James also has a thing for skins—you’ll find several vintage chairs updated with pony or cowhide upholstery. The name of the shop is perfectly apt; this re-mix of old and new does indeed have a classic feel.
