OPENING: The British luxury brand Eskandar plans to open a shop in the Gold Coast (70 E. Walton St.) in September, stocking women’s clothing and accessories as well as home decor and furniture.

ART FAIRS: More than 100 painters, photographers, and other artists gather for Oakbrook Center’s 50th Annual Invitational Fine Art Exhibition (100 Oakbrook Center, Oak Brook) on September 1 and 2. On September 8 and 9, the juried Lakeview East Festival of the Arts (Broadway between Belmont Avenue and Roscoe Street) showcases original art, sculpture, and jewelry.

CRAFT FAIR: Hundreds of indie designers converge on Ukrainian Village September 8 and 9 for the tenth annual Renegade Craft Fair (Division Street between Paulina Street and Damen Avenue).

SHOPPING EVENT: September 6 is Fashion’s Night Out (fashionsnightout.com), a multi-city event that hits stores across Chicago, including the 900 North Michigan Shops, Water Tower Place, and The Shops at North Bridge.

FASHION SHOW: The trendy local minichain Akira (shopakira.com for stores) presents a fall fashion show September 23 at Grossinger City Autoplex (1500 N. Dayton St.).

HOME/DESIGN FAIR: Design Harvest (design-harvest.com) returns to West Town September 29 and 30 with handcrafted and vintage furnishings and home items from more than 50 vendors.

OPENING: Luxury Garage Sale (luxurygaragesale.com), a web store for secondhand designer scores, is set to unveil its first boutique (1658 N. Wells St.) in late September.
