As far as rooftop bars in this city go, the one at Torali (160 E. Pearson St., Gold Coast) is a relatively low-key option. Situated at the top of the Ritz-Carlton, the spot is known more for being a steakhouse, with patrons visiting mostly for the dining experience rather than to enjoy drinks on the lounge.
This means you’ll likely encounter a thin crowd milling beneath the foliage-adorned pergolas, and won’t have to elbow your way to the bar. Settle into one of the many high top tables, or sink into a comfy patio chair, and take in the view of the neighborhood. On a Saturday evening visit, the space felt like a little refuge, tucked away from Michigan Avenue and the noise from the street 12 floors below.
