Special Children’s Charities
Special Olympics Chicago/Special Children’s Charities is committed to providing athletic and enrichment programs for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities throughout Chicago.
Thanks to the support of our donors and sponsors, we are serving thousands of Chicago’s athletes–70 percent of whom live below the poverty line. Working with our partners at the Chicago Park District and Chicago Public Schools, we have been able to welcome our athletes back to in-person programs, competitions, and activities that make a daily difference in their lives.
We have also expanded our nonathletic offerings with exciting programs, including:
- The After 22 Project, which provides educational resources for adults who have aged out of the Chicago Public Schools system
- Our new Creative Arts Therapy initiative in CPS cluster programs
- Performing arts programs with Second City, the Fernando Jones Blues Camp, and more.
This is a pivotal and exciting time for Special Olympics Chicago/Special Children’s Charities. Our goal is to expand the menu of services that we currently provide and increase the number of athletes that participate in these life-enriching programs, giving them the quality of life that they deserve!
