The Poetry Foundation

The Poetry Foundation helps tend the flame of poetry and poets everywhere. We welcome you to Chicago’s own literary oasis, featuring a library with more than 40,000 volumes of poetry, a sunlight-filled gallery, an open-air patio, and a roster of public events—all FREE!

Speaking of which, join us on September 18 for the final live taping of the VS podcast, featuring acclaimed poets Cornelius Eady and Major Jackson.

In October, we’re hosting an event with hip-hop curators and connoisseurs, Rapbrary. Come for an evening of powerful poetry and musical performances by Wallace, J Bambii, Darius Caffey, and Mason Pippenger.

Other upcoming events include our monthly Holding Space gatherings where we invite poetry lovers and creators to come into our space to read, write and embrace this important art form.
