After a seven-year run on Damen Avenue, women’s boutique Roslyn (2035 N. Damen Ave., 773-489-1311)—a go-to for playful dresses and cocktail apparel—prepares to bid Bucktown adieu. I’d advise anyone with an upcoming dress-up event to hurry in before the store officially shutters at the end of the month.

The decision is bittersweet for owner Rosie Clayton, who sent a statement about her future plans to branch out of retail and into the restaurant industry. Clayton grew up in the Chicago restaurant biz (her family owns five Thai restaurants including Star of Siam, Dao, and Tiparos) and her husband also works in the hospitality industry. The couple plans to fulfill a longtime dream to open a drinking and dining establishment together in late summer.

In the meantime, Roslyn has a full inventory to offload. All fall and winter collections (including contemporary women’s brands such Alice & Olivia, Elizabeth and James, and Nicholas K) are now 50 percent off. Mark your calendar for even deeper discounts on January 25 and 26, when the shop hosts an in-store warehouse sale, marking Roslyn merchandise 70 to 90 percent off and local designer Elise Bergman’s dresses 50 percent off.
