A clothing line known for its California-casual basics, Splendid (3510 N. Southport Ave.) is putting the finishing touches on its new Lake View store, set to open Friday, March 14.

If you're not familiar with the LA-based brand, picture swaddling yourself in luxurious, silky-soft jersey knit sheets – that's basically what it feels like to wear a Splendid maxi dress. The retailer spent 10 years perfecting its fabric, starting with a collection of t-shirts and expanding to a full line of apparel for women, men and kids.

Beachy whitewashed walls and natural wood fixtures adorn the 1,700 square foot space, which was previously occupied by Perchance. Along with its signature striped tees, colorful dresses and draped cardigans, the store will also carry a children's collection, footwear line and swimwear pieces.

Something else to look forward to: In late April, the retailer will debut a brand new handbag line of clutches, hobos, totes, cross-body and bucket bags, priced $88 to $378.
