With tattooed, pieced staff all dressed in black, the lofty space has hairdryers hanging above chairs on suspension cords, and a hip-hop-heavy soundtrack. But if that doesn’t sound relaxing, think again. Treatments—which include dry cuts, color, and styling—start with a neck, scalp, and shoulder massage. The salon is also big on education. When we stopped by, staffers pulled out a mannequin head and a flat-iron, and patiently led us through the process of creating subtle “s-waves” in our hair. It’s harder than it looks, so it’s a good thing we know where to find the pros.
