The Japanese brand Uniqlo (uniqlo.com/us)best known for creating affordable basics and collaborating with top designers such as Jil Sander—will open its first Midwest outpost at 830 North Michigan Avenue on Thursday, October 23. At 60,000 square feet, it will be the second-largest Uniqlo in the nation. The store will sell apparel for men, women, and children—and coffee at an in-store Starbucks. The opening date is October 23.

Top Sales This Week

French label Zadig & Voltaire (114 E. Oak St., us.zadig-et-voltaire.com) is offering 20 percent off Fall/Winter 2015 merchandise through Monday. The sale applies to nearly everything in the new collection, with the exception of a few accessories and cashmere pieces.

J.Crew sister store Madewell (932 N. Rush St., madewell.com) is offering 30 percent off select fall merchandise through Monday. Available in-store and online, the discount applies to women’s items such as the metropolis leather jacket and black Chelsea boots.

Shopping website Gilt City Chicago (giltcity.com/chicago) brings its seasonal warehouse sale to the MCA Warehouse (1747 W. Hubbard St.) this Friday and Saturday. The event features designer goods for up to 80 percent off retail cost. There are finds for men, women, and children by the likes of Lanvin, Tom Ford, and Christian Louboutin. Book Signing

Fashion designer Lela Rose comes to women’s boutique Neapolitan Collection (175 Elm St.,Winnetka, neapolitanonline.com) tomorrow. From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Rose will sign copies of her new book on entertaining, Pret-a-Party.

Trunk Shows

Space519 (900 N. Michigan Ave., space519.com) hosts a trunk show for Veronica Beard today. Bucktown men’s and women’s boutique Steven Alan (1659 N. Damen Ave., stevenalan.com) will hold a trunk show for local jewelry designer Jules Vance on Saturday. Her fall/winter fine jewelry collection focuses on minimalist, made-for-layering pieces with materials such as eco-friendly diamonds. The event is scheduled for 1 to 5 p.m.
