August 12, 2010- Designs for Dignity kicked off the 2010 Kitchen Walk with La Dolce Vita Kick off Party at Artemide. The evening celebrated the 2010 Kitchen Walk which will take place on October 16, 2010 in Michigan’s Harbor Country. July 22, 2010- PAWS Chicago, the city’s largest No Kill, humane organization hosted the 8th Annual Beach Party on Thursday, July 22 at Castaways Boathouse at North Avenue Beach. This year’s event had more than 500 people and dogs in attendance, making it one of Chicago’s largest pet-friendly social gatherings. Presented by Associated Publications and North Community Bank, this year’s Beach Party was the most successful to-date, raising nearly $225,000 for homeless pets! Read more
August 1, 2010 – More than 100 guests gathered at Base Bar at the Hard Rock Hotel to watch Chicago’s top bartenders mix up their best Tanqueray® & Tonic with a twist. Guests enjoyed hors d’oeuvres and cocktails and complimentary grooming services from Halo for Men.
A panel of six judges sampled the competing drinks to determine winners in the categories of best bar, pub, and tavern; best national chain, hotel, and fine dining; and best mixology and cocktail venue. Of those three winners, Josh Pearson of Sepia was chosen as the overall winner, Chantelle Pabros of Chizakaya Japanese Pub was awarded second place overall, and Rudy Matic of McCormick & Schmick’s Gold Coast received third place overall.

The winners and their guests enjoyed delicious bites by Market along with specialty cocktails by Don Julio, Ketel One Oranje, and Stella Artois. Dick Babcock, editor-in-chief, recognized and congratulated all the winners in attendance. June 24, 2010 - On June 24th, The Chicago History Museum hosted FashioNext- an insider fashion event and competition where three established Chicago designers competed to create a piece to be permanently added to the exhibition- I Do! Chicago Ties the Knot at the Chicago History Museum. The winners Carla Hwang and Kenneth Park showcased their elaborate gowns alongside fellow contestants Caroline DeVillo and Katrin Schnabl. Mario Tricoci provided hair and make-up styling for the runway presentation, and over 400 guests were able to enjoy the new E350 Cabriolet courtesy of Mercedes-Benz upon entering the museum. The luncheon was a preview to kick-off the I Do! Chicago Ties the Knot exhibition which opened in May 2010, and supported the FashioNext Finale competition, held at the Museum on June 24th, 2010. May 8, 2010 - Chicago magazine and the Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorders Association, Inc. teamed up in support of the 2010 Chicago Rita Hayworth Gala at the Fairmont Chicago Millennium Park. Princess Yasmin Aga Khan held the first Rita Hayworth Gala in 1985 to honor her mother, actress Rita Hayworth, who died as a result of Alzheimer's disease. Since then, the annual gala has grown into a premier social event that has raised more than $18 million to support the Alzheimer’s Association. Read more
