1 Edelmann finished the dining room with refined floor-to-ceiling draperies and reupholstered the chairs with shimmery fabric. A stone sink (with no drain) serves as the table’s centerpiece. 2 To the left of the front door, opposite the media room, is an elegant reading room, complete with fireplace. 3 His-and-hers dressing areas, a bath with a steam shower, and a small seating area adjoin the master bedroom. Built-in cabinetry eliminates the need for dressers. Rather than crowd rooms with furniture, Marija liked the idea of “letting the house do the work,” Cory says. 4 Stone tile clads a wall of the powder room, the only room on the first floor with a door—other spaces have wide cased doorways. 5 Edelmann found a platform bed and a playful chandelier for the son’s room, where a surfing-themed mural enlivens one wall. 6 The garage, which opens onto a deeded alley, has its own veranda with comfortable seating and a brick fireplace.
