Walter E. Smithe (2009 N. Clybourn Ave., smithe.com), a Chicago furniture and design store founded in the 1940s, has partnered with Century Furniture’s American Modern designer Thomas O’Brien to create a 120-piece collection of room essentials and one-of-a-kind furnishings. On Thursday, February 25 from 6 to 8 p.m., the Oak Brook Showroom (1501 16th St., Oak Brook) will host a VIP event where you’ll get to meet Smithe and O’Brien for a Q&A session, browse the new collection (available at select Walter E. Smithe showrooms), and enjoy drinks and hors d’oeuvres. Space is limited; you can reserve a spot here.

Knoll (222 W. Merchandise Mart Plaza, knoll.com) is offering free shipping and 15 percent off classic furniture—armchairs, barstools, coffee tables, and more—from Friday, February 19 until March 1. Take a preview peek here.

Starting Monday, February 22 and running until the 29th, 350West (1311 W. Armitage Ave., 350west.com) is offering $50 off purchases of $250, and $100 off purchases over $400. The local, designer-curated showroom offers an assortment of hand-selected décor.

It’s still cold outside, but the Chicago Botanic Garden (1000 Lake Cook Rd., Glencoe, chicagobotanic.org) is ushering in an early spring with its annual Orchid Show, which runs until March 13. Drop by on a weekend to see more than 10,000 orchids in bloom; you can pick up a few of your own at the Orchid Marketplace. Repotting services will be available from experienced members of the Illinois Orchid Society. Tickets ($8 for members and $10 for nonmembers) are available online.

Williams-Sonoma (1550 N. Fremont St., williams-sonoma.com) is having an outlet sale with 50 to 75 percent off select items from kitchenware to furniture (while supplies last). Be warned—all sales are final. The store’s clearance sale section is also offering savings of up to 75 percent on select home goods.
