Some people redo their homes and stop there. Not Peter and Barbara Bernick.
The Bernicks had so much fun working with interior designer Aimee Wertepny and her team at Project Interiors on decorating their River Forest home that they decided to open up a 1,500-square-foot home décor shop filled with the types of cool pieces they put in their own house.
Located in Oak Park, Update (122 N. Marion St.) carries accent furniture and bold accessories from brands such as Arteriors, Gold Leaf Design Studio, and Palecek. Find seatbelt chairs by Philips Collection, furniture by Brazil’s Roberta Schilling, and giant planters by Chicago’s own Gold Leaf Designs.
“I’m drawn to unique items that instantly freshen up a space,” says Bernick.
