FUNCTIONAL ARTISTS French brothers and design world dandies Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec have created furnishings for Kartell, Alessi, Flos, Vitra, and other big guns. A show of their work (including a Clouds modular wall system, similar to the one shown at left) runs through January 20 at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago.
BIRTHDAY BOY In 1912, the Italian company Poltrona Frau presented the world with the Chester; 100 years later, it’s a design icon. WPA Chicago recently featured a month-long celebration of this charming fellow, along with other Poltrona classics.
IT TAKES TWO We dig it when dining and design converge, as they do at Two, a new restaurant and bar in the West Loop. Larry Vodak, the owner of the Andersonville antique shop Scout, and Joline Rivera, of idesign, collaborated on the urban-rustic interior.
COLOR BURST We loved it in natural steel, but now that the Architecture bed frame is available in a powder-coated finish in nine delicious colors, we’re more smitten than ever. $1,199 for a queen, at Room & Board
LAKE EFFECT Cover a large space on your wall and do it with Chicago pride—without feeling cheesy. Resurrected in a limited edition (along with other vintage prints) by Flatmade, this poster was designed in 1966 by John Massey for the Chicago Cultural Communication Project. $200, at the Haymaker Shop
