Wolfbait & B-girls
3131 W. Logan Blvd.; 312-698-8685
SAVE This Logan Square boutique dedicates itself to promoting Chicago-based artists and, as it turns out, we have a lot of jewelry designers here. Nice Lena makes lightweight dangly earrings from Japanese papers applied to metal ($16 and under). Kiku makes delicate fused-glass earrings ($30). Weener Ware turns bottle caps into necklace charms that are tiny frames for retro photos($28). And Veronica Riley Martens makes lovely chunky stone pendant necklaces ($30). The selection is big, and prices go as low as $1 for handmade pins.
Museum of Contemporary Art

SPLURGE Art books and cool objects are the raisons d’être of the museum store, but MCA’s in-house shop shines in the jewelry department, of all things. Buyer Maxine Weintraub takes an enthusiastic approach to bringing in artist-made pieces from around the world; every piece is innovative from a materials perspective but also seriously chic. We love Tobias Wong’s beautiful black rose brooch made from bulletproof nylon ($178) and Bettina Stark’s necklace of strung-together Lucite balls ($225), both pictured above.
