Brand New: Cibo Matto

By August all of Chicago could be hooked on this restaurant's promised roasted whitefish with peperonata, balsamic, and parsley oil.

After a stint in Las Vegas, chef Todd Stein (MK) brings his flair for modern Italian food back to Chicago at Cibo Matto (“crazy food”). The 2,000-bottle wine tower and gargantuan ceiling fresco—painted by a Chicago native, Todd Murphy—are sure to stand out in The Wit Hotel’s second-floor location. At presstime, Cibo Matto swore it would open on July 7th, two weeks before its projected unveiling, a feat practically unheard of in the restaurant realm. That means by August all of Chicago could be hooked on Stein’s promised roasted whitefish with peperonata, balsamic, and parsley oil. The Wit Hotel, 201 N. State St.; 312-467-0200.
