3143 W. Logan Blvd., 773-661-2485,
Best new: Named for the early-20th-century teetotaling evangelist, this Logan Square joint extends Chicago’s high-concept, low-cost cocktail trend. In addition to creating carefully calibrated versions of the classics, mixology genius Alex Bachman (Yusho) is making his own tonics from far-out ingredients—dandelion, wormwood bitters, flax seed, and lemongrass, to name a few. The results are delightfully refreshing and the perfect complement to an evening of people-watching from one of the outdoor tables.

Best overall: Grant Achatz’s futuristic, trendsetting concept bar still beats the competition with its relentlessly creative mojo.
