Gene & Georgetti

500 N. Franklin St.
Chicago, IL 60654

A relic from a time when execution in the kitchen was prized over creativity, hand-drawn illustrations adorned menus, and people talked about the conduct of “gentlemen,” this steak house still holds its own. The long menu covers ample chicken, seafood, and Italian options, but the main attraction is—and should be—the wet-aged prime beef, some of Chicago’s finest. Most entrées come with a pedestrian iceberg lettuce salad and heat-lampy cottage fried potatoes (get the Vesuvio ones instead). The place could not be any less hip, but with steaks this good, we hope it stays frozen in time forever.
