Make your reservations early. Throngs of tourists and locals flock to this downtown favorite to indulge in classic surf and turf offerings, such as hand-cut steaks and meaty stone crab claws with mustard sauce. It comes down to this: You get what you pay for at Joe’s. Some of the more modestly priced offerings, like the pallid Parmesan-crusted flounder and a diminutive crab cake appetizer, lack inspiration, but the house’s ultrafresh crab legs and its signature Dover sole with a reduced brown butter sauce deliver with style. A nice selection of pies, including a jammy strawberry cream and a classic Key lime pie, makes for an appropriately sweet finish.
