Recent visits to this always-packed local favorite have been marred by sloppy execution and surprising lapses: stringy fried oysters with shell fragments in the batter, Manhattan clam chowder seriously lacking in clams, steamed mussels that took more effort to pry open than they were worth, and an overcooked steak priced too high for the quality. But there are still charms to be had in the wonderful stone crab claws, the excellent grilled mahi-mahi with chimichurri and jicama slaw, and the luscious Key lime pie.
