Chef Mary Mastricola’s salad days never seem to end: This petite Gallic sanctuary near the University of Chicago campus just gets better as time goes by. Tasteful offerings might include pâté of venison, apricots, and hazelnuts; classic magret de canard; and pepper-crusted tuna with tomato-basil compote and French lentils. And speaking of salads, don’t miss gems such as frisée with quail eggs and Roquefort. Well-selected and well-priced French wines will satisfy Francophiles, as will the crème brûlée with caramelized fig-almond relish. Early prix fixe menu ($38).
