If you like your raw fish wrapped around something fried and doused in a cream sauce, Mirai’s got you covered. But if you stick to the classics, you’re likely to quickly forget about the more-is-more fancy rolls. From giant clam to Japanese snapper to eel—both freshwater and saltwater—the nigiri is superbly fresh. There may not be a sushi joint in North America that doesn’t serve a yellowtail scallion roll, but you’ll find its appeal renewed here. Appetizers can be hit-and-miss, and desserts are best avoided, but the sake list will have you wondering why you drink anything else.
