The Boarding House

720 N. Wells St.
Chicago, IL 60654

Critic’s Notes

The first floor of Alpana Singh’s wine mecca glitters with hundreds of dangling wineglasses, while a fourth-floor dining room balances brooding shadows and dapples of light. You can’t miss with the wine list, but the dinner menu lacks focus. Keep it simple, perhaps with creamy Burrata topped with fresh peaches and a pork chop with stone-ground grits. For a laid-back evening, sip Chardonnay and enjoy pizzas and sandwiches in the wine bar.
