Coming: Purple Pig

By Penny Pollack

“Most people are doing small and medium plates. We don’t do anything small,” says Scott Harris (Francesca group), who has teamed up with Jimmy Bannos (Heaven on Seven) to open a hip spot for “wine, swine, and cheese” in the heart of the Mag Mile. Inspired by new Manhattan boîtes like Terroir and Gottino Wine Bar, this talented duo decided you don’t always need 15-foot oven hoods and giant stoves with six or eight burners to have a cool kitchen. When the restaurant opens mid-December, Harris promises a fun little place for some charcuterie, some serious cooking, and a glass of wine for not much money. If anyone can pull this off, these two can. 500 N. Michigan Ave.
