Kelly Golden, owner of Neapolitan Men

Kelly Golden’s customers had been asking her about a men’s boutique for years, so when the opportunity came to rent the approximately 1,000-square-foot space next door to her luxe Winnetka boutique Neapolitan, she seized it. She painted the walls orange, put in dark floors, and in March, opened Neapolitan Men, which gives off a calming yet masculine vibe. “We carry everything from sportswear to suits to accessories,” says Golden, 38. “Men can come in and pick up a polo for golf, a pair of pants for work, or a suit for a big meeting. We’ve got all their bases covered.”

While the women’s side features many pieces hot off the runway, the men’s selection is more classic. Offerings run the gamut from basic polos ($95) and Michael Kors seersucker shorts ($125) to popular items such as Pringle cotton argyle sweaters ($195) and Vitamina jeans ($160 to $195). Last-minute shoppers will appreciate the tuxedo shirts from the Italian line Lorenzini ($345)—they’re a great go-to for the man who realizes the day of the big event that his old one doesn’t fit.

Starting in the fall, the shop will offer more suiting options from high-end Italian brands Kiton and Brioni ($4,000 to $5,000). “They’re investment pieces,” says Golden, who will be traveling to the men’s shows in Milan, Paris, and New York. Merchandise from Prada and Hickey Freeman, as well as shoes and leather goods, will be added later in the year.

The women’s store has succeeded in part for its customer service, which extends to the men’s outpost as well. Sales associates will visit clients’ closets and make recommendations, and the shop will deliver items to homes and offices. As for fit, there are plenty of options: Most designs can be custom-made to a shopper’s size, and the shop employs an on-site tailor.
