The Savvy Traveler’s Guide to Chicago Airports

Chicagoans love to gripe about their airports, and with good reason: delays. Last year, O’Hare and Midway ranked dead last in the nation when it came to on-time departures. But there’s more to the city’s bustling travel hubs than tardiness, especially in the summer. O’Hare, recently recrowned the world’s busiest airport, has added a handful of direct flights to great summer destinations. Midway’s got bargain airfares even during these most popular travel months. So instead of hating on them, think of O’Hare and Midway as your gateways to an awesome summer vacation.

The key to that sunny outlook, of course, is knowing how best to manage these behemoths. Chicago crunched flight statistics and scoured both O’Hare and Midway to help you figure out which airlines to fly and when, how to kill time when you do get delayed, where to eat (good news: O’Hare has the nation’s best airport restaurant!), and even how to save cash at the one place that price gouges you more than movie theaters. Happy flying!
