You’ve probably seen hundreds of counter-service delis, but City Provisions Deli is something new. Cleetus Friedman, the eco-minded chef/owner, also runs City Provisions’ catering company and its farm-dinner series, which advocate sustainability more as a lifestyle than a business plan. Guaranteed green by the Green Chicago Restaurant Co-op, CPD boasts a rotating seasonal menu, homemade breakfast pastries, products from local purveyors such as Crumb and Nice Cream, and meats raised within 200 miles of the city and butchered in-house. “This is about connecting people with their food,” says Friedman. “We just happen to do it in the form of a deli.” 1818 W. Wilson Ave.; 773-293-2489.
