Catch the runway debut of the next rising stars at this showing of top students from Chicago’s fashion design schools. Watch the three finalists from the Chicago History Museum’s FashioNext Generation compete. And see the winner unveiled.

Three student finalists from leading local design schools will compete to create a hat and handbag to accent the 2010 FashioNext winning gown by VWIDON. Each FashioNext Generation entry will appear in Dress Code 2010, where the winning designer will be announced. Following the show, the winning accessories will go on display as part of the I Do! Chicago Ties the Knot exhibition at the Chicago History Museum from November 2010 through January 3, 2011.

Rachel Ovaska’s passion for art started when she was very young. She spent a year studying illustration at the New Hampshire Institute of Art before discovering that her true ispiration was in fashion design. She transferred to Columbia College in 2006, where she is now a senior. Rachel plans to one day own her own shop creating custom garments and accessories for both men and women.

Brenda Beavers began sewing at a very early age, taught the art by her grandmother. Still an elementary student, she was enrolled in the Singer Sewing program, and she never stopped loving it. She studied at Columbia College and the Illinois Institute of Art, where she received her BFA. She spent some time freelancing and in 2009 re-enrolled in the Illinois Institute of Art to major in the Accessory Design program.

Caitlin Lindell found her love of sewing and design during high-school. In 2008, Caitlin entered the undergraduate Fashion Design program at the International Academy of Design and Technology (IADT). In 2009 she was hired as the assistant for the Fashion Design Program at IADT Chicago and later was chosen as a finalist in the CFF scholarship competition. She expects to graduate in the summer of 2011.
