Tuesday, 10/1 to Sunday, 10/6:
The folks from NYC’s Brooklyn Brewery make their way to Chicago with their travelling Brooklyn Brewery Mash celebration, a weeklong series of events showcasing the microbrewery’s charms and acumen. Check out the schedule of tap takeovers, dinner parties, concerts, and more on the festival website.

Tuesday, 10/1 to Thursday, 10/31:
October is National Pizza Month. Mediterranean restaurant Tesori (65 E. Adams St., 312-786-9911) is cooking up a different specialty pizza for every day of this month. You can find the entire calendar of featured pies on their Facebook page.

Wednesday, 10/2:
In honor of its one-year anniversary, Local Root (610 N. McClurg Ct., 312-643-1145) will hand out grass-fed beef burgers, free-range barbecue pork ribs, and jumbo hotdogs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., all free of charge.

Friday, 10/4:
A number of Chicago restaurants are planning specials for National Taco Day; you can get three tacos for $5 at Taco Joint (both locations) from 3 to 5 p.m., or half-priced tiny tacos at Nacional 27 (325 W. Huron St., 312-664-2727) from 5 p.m. to midnight. And you can always take advice from our dining columnist and stop by one of these top taco spots.

Friday, 10/4:
Publican Quality Meats (825 W. Fulton Market, 312-445-8977) hosts the first annual fundraiser for Pilot Light, a nonprofit that teaches healthy eating habits to children through culinary education. The Pilot Light Back To School Block Party kicks off at 6 p.m. and it costs $175.
Participating chefs include Charlie McKenna (Lillie’s Q), Paul Kahan (Avec), Paula Haney and Allison Stout (Hoosier Mama Pie Company), Jason Hammel (Lula Cafe), Christine Cikowski and Joshua Kulp (Honey Butter Fried Chicken), and many more. It's a great lineup, but there's one missing! Green City Market's Junior Board is hosting A (Mostly) Veggie Affair on Thursday, October 3rd, at The 1st Ward (2033 W North Ave) from 7pm-11pm. The event features ten of Chicago's best chefs, four of the city's top mixologists, and synth-pop band Hey Champ. Eight chefs will present all-vegetable dishes with Green City Market vendor produce, and chefs Paul Virant and Bill Kim will prepare whole animals!

The $45 ticket benefits the Green City Market's LINK Card matching program. Here's where you can buy tickets and get more information:
