Weekend Photos: Bucky Badger and the UW Marching Band @ Will’s Northwoods Inn

Posted Aug 23, 2010 at 04:46 PM

We haven’t seen so much red since the Blackhawks won the Stanley Cup. Spotted Saturday: another outfit well acquainted with the cold and the ice, the University of Wisconsin Marching Band, at Will’s Northwoods Inn in Lake View. The late-afternoon sun glinted off the trombones as the band played outside for a flock of once and future alumni, while the school’s mascot, Bucky Badger, worked the crowd. If you’re a Wisconsinite at heart who missed the weekend shindig at Chicago’s self-proclaimed “number 1 Wisconsin bar,” mark your calendar now for Musky Fest—Will’s annual tribute to the native Wisconsin fish, featuring the crowning of the Musky Queen—on September 18th.

I hate to site this out, but Will's is not the self proclaimed #1 Wisconsin Bar. It's a title they've held amongst voting alumni for years.

About Seen on the Scene

Call it bar hopping by proxy: Each week we send our photographers into the thick of the action to capture the latest openings and the most buzzed-about events; then, on Mondays, we post the photos here, where you can view them without getting elbowed in the side or having a drink spilled down your pants. You’re welcome. And for those who do run into our photographers out and about, be sure to smile for the camera.
