Weekend Photos: Dîner en Blanc

Posted Aug 27, 2012 at 11:14 AM

One thousand picnickers donned their chicest summer whites and descended on the Art Institute of Chicago’s South Lawn Friday night for Dîner en Blanc, a flash mob-style BYO picnic. Chicago is one of 24 cities worldwide to play host to the hush-hush event, which organizers don’t divulge the location for until just prior to showtime. Our photographer got in on the secret, and snapped these images from a whimsical night of dining, toasting, and dancing.

About Seen on the Scene

Call it bar hopping by proxy: Each week we send our photographers into the thick of the action to capture the latest openings and the most buzzed-about events; then, on Mondays, we post the photos here, where you can view them without getting elbowed in the side or having a drink spilled down your pants. You’re welcome. And for those who do run into our photographers out and about, be sure to smile for the camera.
