Weekend Photos: Drumbar

Posted Jun 11, 2012 at 10:50 AM

We’ve been anxiously awaiting Drumbar, the speakeasy-inspired lounge perched atop Raffaello Hotel’s 18th story. Naturally, then, we wasted no time sending our photographer on Saturday to check out the opening weekend scene. Streeterville’s finest mingled on the 1,500-square-foot outdoor terrace, sipping Benjamin Newby’s (The Underground) complex concoctions, which include the Noir—a mix of Johnnie Walker Black, Aperol, fresh lemon juice, tobacco syrup, and grapefruit bitters. From 200 feet above Delaware Place, the skyline looked almost as lovely as the patrons.

About Seen on the Scene

Call it bar hopping by proxy: Each week we send our photographers into the thick of the action to capture the latest openings and the most buzzed-about events; then, on Mondays, we post the photos here, where you can view them without getting elbowed in the side or having a drink spilled down your pants. You’re welcome. And for those who do run into our photographers out and about, be sure to smile for the camera.
