Weekend Photos: Ada Street

Posted Mar 12, 2012 at 01:19 PM

Wow. Talk about a diamond in the rough. On Saturday, we sent our photographer to a lonely industrial stretch west of Lincoln Park and just north of Goose Island. It was there—half a block from the area’s only other nightlife destination of note, the loveably scruffy Hideout—that he found Ada Street, the new restaurant and lounge from David Morton and Michael Kornick (DMK Burger Bar, Fish Bar). We’d call it plain gorgeous. That intimate lounge? It’s inside an old elevator shaft. Those drinks? Spirited punches and cocktails, including the Felonious Monk (Plymouth gin, Yellow Chartreuse, Bénédictine, Angostura bitters, egg white, and Belgian ale; $10) from Ada’s beverage guy, Tim Lacey. And the parking? Blissfully easy, given the lack of neighbors. For now. Browse our photos below.

About Seen on the Scene

Call it bar hopping by proxy: Each week we send our photographers into the thick of the action to capture the latest openings and the most buzzed-about events; then, on Mondays, we post the photos here, where you can view them without getting elbowed in the side or having a drink spilled down your pants. You’re welcome. And for those who do run into our photographers out and about, be sure to smile for the camera.
