Weekend Photos: Let Lounge at Market

Posted Oct 18, 2010 at 03:19 PM

Sure signs summer has given way to fall: the changing leaves, the shorter days, and Ping-Pong—at least at the West Loop bar Market, where the onetime beer garden is now a 2,500-square-foot lounge dedicated to table tennis. Our photographer stopped by Friday and snapped folks—including a few serious competitors from a local training center—rallying for bragging rights on the two tables. Want in on the action? Let Lounge is open from 11 a.m. until close every day. Call 312-929-4787 to reserve a table (free to play; a drink minimum may apply for advance reservations), or just walk in, put your name on the chalkboard, and let one of the spot’s Sting martinis (rum, lavender-honey syrup, and lemon; $10) loosen up that killer forehand while you wait your turn.

About Seen on the Scene

Call it bar hopping by proxy: Each week we send our photographers into the thick of the action to capture the latest openings and the most buzzed-about events; then, on Mondays, we post the photos here, where you can view them without getting elbowed in the side or having a drink spilled down your pants. You’re welcome. And for those who do run into our photographers out and about, be sure to smile for the camera.
